Call of Duty: Black Ops is a first-person shooter developed by Treyarch and published by Activision, released by the United States and Europe November 9, 2010.Officially announced April 30, 2010, the game is theseventh chapter of Call of Duty series and the fourth game of the series to be developed by Treyarch after Call of Duty 2: Big Red One, Call of Duty 3 and Call of Duty: World at War. It is the sequel to Call of Duty: World at War.It was first pre-order available only on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Activision has confirmed after publication for the Wii and Nintendo DS title.

In May 2009 , Activision claimed to be looking for licensing with regard to the Vietnam War , this has led to speculation that the next episode of Call of Duty would be held in Vietnam. In November of 2009 , just days before the ‘exit 2 Modern Warfare , Activision has officially announced a new Call of Duty title for 2010. On 30 April 2010 , Call of Duty: Black Ops has been officially announced.Treyarch is working only on the game and nothing else at the time, unlike the past practice.

However, it has several groups, each working on his game modes. Treyarch uses technology motion capture similar to that used in the film by James Cameron’s Avatar , which allows precise facial expressions, capturing the movements of the actor.For the construction were also consulted by the Special Forces veterans from both parties to the conflict of the Cold War by Major John Plaster (U.S. Army-Ret.) who served in MACVSOG during the Vietnam War and some members of the former USSR.

The player assumes the role of various characters in single-player campaign, changing the outlook for the whole story.The playable characters are operators of the special forces of the Cold War, responsible for carrying out covert missions behind enemy lines.

Each mission has a number of objectives that appear on the Head Up Display, which marks the direction and distance to and from these objectives. The player is accompanied by allied troops.

Although primarily a first person shooter, players can pilot a Hind helicopter and guide friendly troops by an SR-71 Blackbird , a reconnaissance plane.

The campaign is full of moments of cinematic script.One of them is a bullet time effect during the level “Victor Charlie”, activated when the player is the last enemy fire to a team of Viet Cong.
